NEW MUSIC: HOUNDS HAUL – RIVIERA
Milton Keynes indie-rock band Hounds Haul release scorching new single “Riviera”.
A band after my own heart! Hounds Haul’s influences are Foals, Everything Everything, Tame Impala and Wolf Alice to name but a few huge artists. Those aren’t empty influences either, and Hounds Haul certainly aren’t copy-catting anyone with latest single “Riviera”. It’s huge in sound and song and completely their own, which makes it all the more satisfying to know that you and I are here to jump on the bandwagon before they inevitably end up playing to thousands of fans in the NME tent next year.
“Riviera is the idea of a place in ourselves that is full of debauchery but is also this perfect idea of paradise.”
I don’t need to tell you that BBC Introducing are championing Hounds Haul, it goes without saying. Any DJ that lets this band slip under their radar is worthy of getting the sack; a big statement which I dutifully stand by. Adam Bosworth, Jamie Smith, Rien De Keyser and Tom Maddams have brought their eclectic influences to the table to rather bewilderingly (given that they cite heavy metal and 80s post-punk as influences) fashion a sound that is immensely modern.
“Riviera” is really one of the most technically spot-on, confidently produced and grippingly written tracks Scary Canary has covered so far; thrashy and thrilling in the best way possible. Bring on the moshpits, 2021!
