FRIDAY FINDS: 22-10-2021
I'd say this is one of the more chaotic Friday Finds collections we've ever posted, with music from a wide collection of genres! SAPPHIRE, Larizzle, The Trusted, DARGZ, Wotts, and Mat Hunsley feature.
SAPPHIRE - REPEAT
SAPPHIRE has come a long way since her early YouTube cover video days - growing up under the watchful eye of hundreds of thousands of viewers can't be easy, but the songwriter has kept a level head all along.
The release of the new single 'Repeat' signifies an exciting new direction for SAPPHIRE, an anthem for overthinkers and fans of Madison Beer.
Perfect for: singing along to whilst stuck in traffic
Show SAPPHIRE some love:
LARIZZLE - OVER ME (FT. ROSES GABOR)
Larizzle's beats meet Roses Gabor's smooth vocals for this South African Amapiano and Funk-House hybrid.
'Over Me' is danceable and slightly edgy, reminiscent of CamelPhat's earlier releases - only more flavourful, and massively underrated. Dance music fans, where are you? Get on this!
Perfect for: Friday night pre-drinks
Show Larizzle some love:
THE TRUSTED - VELLICHOR
Southend-on-Sea 'retro-electro' outfit The Trusted have released their new and nostalgia-fuelled single 'Vellichor'.
Modern and old-school influences (Elvis, The 1975, The Clash, Catfish and the Bottlemen) fuse to create The Trusted's unique sound. Backed by driving beats and solid basslines, this one is for those who like their music played loud.
Perfect for: road trips with manic pixie dream girls
Show The Trusted some love:
DARGZ - HOLD ON PT. 2 (FT. JAMES CHELLIAH & MOSES)
Glitchy vocal loops, smooth beats, and poetic rap form the backbone of this new single from producer DARGZ, vocalist James Chelliah, and Moses Boyd on the drums.
Easy-going and brilliantly thought-provoking, DARGZ hits a sweet spot for chill-hop and soulful rap lovers alike. You can bet this track will be on repeat at every South London bar in 3...2...1...
Perfect for: low-key evenings with mates
Show DARGZ some love:
WOTTS - SUNNYSIDE
Ottawa duo Wotts have released their aptly named new single 'Sunnyside'. Their transition from hip-hop to indie is welcome, with the new single stylistically appealing to fans new and old.
Wild guitars and languid vocals make for the perfect Summer tune, and although it may be a somewhat late in the season, who could ever say no to to a little extra sunshine?
Discover on 'Indie Rising'.
Perfect for: those with seasonal affective disorder
Show Wotts some love:
MAT HUNSLEY - FRIEND & FOE
Mat Hunsley gets autumnal with cosy new single 'Friend & Foe'. Continuing his domination over Spotify's acoustic music collection, this single promises to hit us all in the feels.
Written about how we can treat those around us like crap when we're feeling low, Mat Hunsley provides us a little comfort in the form of his understanding.
Discover on 'Indie Rising'.
Perfect for: rainy, lazy days in.
